‘This funding is critical’: PA organizations unite to protect Medicaid funding in face of proposed cuts

167 organizations across the State of Pennsylvania have signed a letter opposing any cuts to Medicaid in the Federal budget.

Those organizations hosted a virtual press conference Tuesday to talk about the impacts potential funding cuts could have. Representatives from organizations across Pennsylvania came together with one purpose.

congressional budget resolution is proposing $880 billion in cuts to Federal spending overall. It’s not clear how much of that might come out of Medicaid, but the Pennsylvania organizations said any cuts could be devastating.

“What we would see, in terms of Medicaid cuts, would mean a spike in uninsured rates for children, and we have more than 1.2 million children in Pennsylvania who are currently enrolled in Medicaid,” said Becky Ludwick, with the organization PA Partnerships for Children.
