A new report by Pennsylvania Partnerships for Children says kids of color are not treated equitably in the state’s child welfare systems.
The non-profit, bipartisan group says it used data from state and county welfare systems.
The report stated that in 2022 Pennsylvania had more than 39,000 reports of child abuse and neglect, with 12.8% of those cases being substantiated.
Breaking down the numbers locally, Lehigh County had 1,349 reports, with 9% being substantiated.
Northampton County had 889 reports, with 12% substantiated.
