As families scrambled to re-enroll in Medicaid for the first time since the pandemic, new data shows that Pennsylvania’s rate of uninsured children has remained stable.
A new report, released by the statewide children’s advocacy group Pennsylvania Partnerships for Children, analyzed Census data on children’s health insurance to provide an early look at the impact of resuming Medicaid renewals after a three-year federal hiatus during the pandemic.
The findings were more encouraging than expected, said Becky Ludwick, PPC’s vice president of public policy. Between 2022 and 2023, Pennsylvania’s uninsured rate for children held steady at 5.2%, despite concerns about potential disruptions.
